OPEN CALL FOR VIDEO WORKS:
Play Pavilion: A Survey of Regional Creative Subcultures
Deadline: March 10, 2026
Exhibition Dates: May 2026 (During the 2026 LA County Fair)
Location: Millard Sheets Art Center, Fairplex.
Claremont Temporary invites filmmakers, video artists, skaters, performers, and all types of video makers to submit works for the projection series of our upcoming exhibition, Play Pavilion.
Play Pavilion acts as a communal bridge between the high art history of Los Angeles and the expansive creative subcultures that have defined the region for generations. This exhibition is an installation of temporal precariousness—the intersection of the precariat, the emerging, and the experimental within the security of an established institution.
We are transforming the massive back gallery of the Millard Sheets Art Center into a responsive cinema. We are not just looking for video art—we are looking for the moving visual language of Los Angeles.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are seeking video works created in the last few years that reflect the pulse of the region. We encourage submissions from all genres:
Experimental & Video Art: Abstract, conceptual, or narrative-breaking works.
Skate & Street Culture: High-quality edits that capture the movement and architecture of the city.
Music Videos: Visuals that push the boundaries of the medium.
Performance Documentation: Records of ephemeral actions, happenings, or interventions.
Short Film & Documentary: Narrative works that explore the diverse realities of SoCal life.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Eligibility: Open to artists living or working in Southern California.
Format: Please submit a streaming link (Vimeo/YouTube).
Limit: 2 submissions per artist.
